In 2008 and 2009 Excel earned the title of USEA Area V’s Preliminary Horse of the year and was awarded the Walter Strauss Perpetual Trophy, as well as the 2009 Area V Adult Rider Perpetual Trophy in honor of Clover's Eclipse. Kristy was the Reserve Champion Preliminary Rider in 2009, and was the 3rd place rider in 2008. She was the Area V Adult Rider Champion in both 2008 and 2009. Kristy was also a member of the United States Eventing Association’s Silver Medal Club, Bronze Medal Club, and the Blue Ribbon Club.
